Eating Disorders

I pride myself in understanding the complexities of Eating Disorders, and recognize that they serve a unique function for each individual that I work with. I have extensive experience working with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, Orthorexia, ARFID, OSFED, Body Dymorphia, Compulsive Exercise and general disordered eating. I take a body and weight inclusivity approach, and integrate both intuitive eating and body acceptance interventions. I work closely with my clients' Registered Dietitians and Primary Care Physicians to provide the most comprehensive and collaborative care possible. I also offer Parent, Partner and Sibling Coaching to help families understand how to best support their loved-one struggling with an eating disorder. In some cases, it may be necessary for clients to attend a higher level of care prior to engaging in outpatient eating disorder therapy services.

Drug & Alcohol Dependence & Addiction

I am a true believer that no one intends to become an addict or alcoholic, but that one's personality, genetic makeup, and/or trauma history contribute to their drug and alcohol dependency. Depending on the client, I take either an abstinence-based or harm-reduction-model approach. I lean on the tenets of 12-step programming (such as: one-day-at-a-time; taking personal ownership; letting go of resentments) as I explore with my clients the purpose that drugs and alcohol played in their lives. While exploring or maintaining sobriety, I encourage my clients to engage with hobbies they once enjoyed, be of service to their community, and increase their social connection—all of which help to create a more meaningful life outside of their addiction. I have extensive experience working with clients who have struggled with alcohol, methamphetamines, opioids, stimulants, depressants, hallucinogens and analgesics. In some cases, it is necessary for clients to attend a higher level of care/detox prior to engaging in outpatient addiction therapy services.

Anxiety

Anxiety is debilitating for those contending with it on a daily basis, and the effect on each client varies greatly. Whether it be social anxiety, running thoughts, performance-based anxiety, general worry/fear or feelings of low self worth, I help clients challenge and overcome their anxiety via Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Exposure Therapy. Life is too short to spend it inside of your head.
